What is Welcome Week?
If this is the first week of your college career or the first week of your third year, Welcome Week is for you. Over the course of a week, you have an opportunity to meet, mingle and learn with faculty, staff and, of course, other students. There are over 20 fun events and activities scheduled just for you. Visit one or visit them all, it's really up to you.
   
New Students New Students
There's something for everyone...and every new UNO student...during Welcome Week. Whether you're looking for a part-time job, interested in joining a student organization, have questions about life at UNO or just want to meet new people, Welcome Week activities are the right place to be. Plan to attend at least one event a day. Better yet, plan to attend them all!
   
Returning Students

Returning Students
So you're a returning student and you say you "know the ropes" and are wondering what Welcome Week can offer you? Well, you can certainly participate in some of the events and meet lots of new people, but how about considering what YOU can OFFER new students! This is a great chance for you to volunteer at a a variety of events and help welcome new Privateers to campus. Contact the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership for more information.

If you do, you can register your event for inclusion on the Welcome Week Calendar of Events and get recognition and publicity prior to the event. Just Ask Me

Just Ask Me Booths
Mon. August 24 - Fri. August 28 - 7:30AM - 2:00PM
Well, they're actually tents, not booths. Nonetheless, if you've got questions, we've got answers! During Welcome Week, you'll find Just Ask Me (JAM) booths all over campus. Staffers will be avalilable in these booths to answer your questions as you make your transition to campus life...or just try to make your way around campus.

   
Rock N Bowl

Freshmen Night at Rock 'N Bowl
Tues. August 25 - 7:30PM to 10:00PM - Rock 'N Bowl
Rock 'N' Bowl is a New Orleans institution, featuring the perfect combination of food, music and bowling...and a new location with better lanes but the same fun spirit. Complimentary food, bowling and shoe rental. Plan to attend! You won't regret it! Freshmen must email Christy Heaton to register for this event.

FreshFest 2009:
Part-Time/On-Campus Job & Student Organization Fair

Looking for a part-time or on-campus job? Wanna find out more about services available to students? Maybe you're interested in joing a student organization. FreshFest has got you covered. Free food and drinks, dozens of on campus and off campus employers and over 40 student organizations for you to meet.

   
Luau

Welcome Back Luau
Thurs. August 27 - 7:00PM - 11:00PM - University Center Plaza
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a party after your first week of school. Especially if that party includes free Hawaiin-inspired food, a slammin' DJ and a chance to meet your new college family. Wear your wacky Hawaiin shirt, slip on your flip-flops and get ready to hang ten at our version of the Hawaiin Luau. Games, prizes, dance contests, Limbo competitions and lots of stuff to make you say "This was an awesome, righteous party, DUDE!!!!"

   
Up All Night

Meet the Greeks...Up All Nite
Fri. August 28 - 9:00PM - 2:00AM - Human Performance Center (HPC)

Up All Night is your chance to have a great time while helping to raise money for a great cause: the New Orleans Recreation Department. And in the process you'll meet the members of our fraternities and sororities and learn more about Greek Life at UNO.

Activities include: video game tournaments, eating contests, 3-on-3 basketball, dance competition, chair massages, low-cost manicures and pedicures, silent auction with fantastic deals on items like Privateer Place rentals, tickets to sporting events, restaurant gift certificates, and services from local businesses...and MUCH, MUCH MORE!

Tickets for Up All Night are $5 and are available from any fraternity or sorority member, at New Student Orientation sessions and FreshFest, and in the Office of Greek Life in Milneburg Hall Room 138.
